F300-How to setup WDS function?

Key points:

1. Both routers should support WDS function;

2. The LAN IP addresses of the two routers should be two different IP within the same IP segment, for example, Router1: 192.168.0.1, Router2: 192.168.0.10;

3. The DHCP Server of Router1 should be enabled, while the Router2’s DHCP Server should be disabled;

4. The wireless settings of both routers should be exactly the same, including SSID, channel, security mode, algorithms and password.

The Topology is as below:

For example:

R1’s LAN IP: 192.168.0.1

R1’s SSID: Tenda_WDS

R1’s channel: channel 6

R1’s security mode: WPA-PSK

R1’s security key: 876543210

 

Steps are as following:

1.1 Connect PC to R1 by a cable, open browser of PC. Input 192.168.0.1 in address bar and press enter.

1.2 Login password is admin, click Login, then click Advanced.

1.3 Make sure that Router 1 has Internet connection.

1.4 Click WirelessWireless Basic Settingschange primary SSID as you want (Tenda_WDS), Select channel as channel 6, and then click OK to save all the settings.

1.5 Click on Wireless Wireless Security, and choose WPA-PSK as the security modeand set a security key(876543210) as you want for R1, and then click OK.

2.1 Connect PC to R2 by a cable, open a web browser in PC which connected to R2, and in the address bar please type in 192.168.0.1, and then press Enter, then you will be in the management page of R2.

2.2 Click Advanced——LAN settings, change the IP address to 192.168.0.10 and then click OK.

2.3 Wireless——Wireless Basic Settings, select “WDS Bridge mode”, and then click “Open Scan”, choose the SSID of Router 1, click OK.


2.4 Click Wireless——Wireless Security, select WPA-PSK, change security key as the same as Router 1’s security key(876543210), click OK.

2.5 Advanced——DHCP Server, disable DHCP server, click OK.

3.1 Connect PC to R1 by a cable, Click Wireless, and then choose WDS Bridge Mode, click “Open Scan”, choose R2’s SSID, and then click OK.

Now all the settings are done.

Connect PC to R2 by a cable.

Please check on PC which is connected to R2, if it can ping R1’s LAN IP address, it means the WDS has been setup successfully.

4.1 Click Start ->RUN;

4.2 Enter cmd and click OK.

4.3 Enter "ping R1’s gateway IP address”. Here in this example, enter "ping 192.168.0.1" and press Enter. If you see a similar screen (highlighted area), the bridge is established successfully.
